What happened to all the nice guys?

I took the time to read a few things yesterday morning, this bit being about images that changed the world while this one about "the nine most badass Bible verses". They were good reads; made you think about the world, made you think about faith.

I came across this link, titled "What happened to all the nice guys" on Craigslist. (Sure, it loses some credibility for being on Craigslist, but that's beside the point.) It's a great read, crafted well. It should take 5-10 minutes of your time to read, but it's well worth it.

Ironically, at least for some, I can sympathize. Sure, I may not be described as "the nice guy" but it's there. It's all under a façade; mass exposure only opens it up to hurt. The read is very true; you keep trying but it's all lost for somebody more popular or somebody whose sole intent is to get into their pants or what have you. But you still try over and over and over again.

So it's a new year and I'm at a cross road: keep going for it or throw it all away. On one hand, there's the prospect of fulfillment (though that's probably just a pipe dream). On the other, there's the prospect of setting my priorities straight (though that means everything's in vain).

Who knows the outcome? I don't.
